08 New Mexico State ABA BMX Championship Huge Success at Duke City BMX

Thank you to all the Riders, Parents & Guests that attended the 2008 New Mexico State ABA BMX State Championship at Duke City BMX! This year's Championship was a blast with a solid turnout and many visiting riders from out of state. Congratulations to all the NM State Champion titles & number plate recipients.

The PRO-AM was quite an event to watch during Sundays final with many rounds of elimination and super hot racing action!

Big thanks to the Ben Roberts and the Albuquerque/Santa Fe Social Flickr Group for comming out and photographing this weekend, cannot wait to see what kind of shots they were able to get!

If you did not get a chance to purchase your 2008 State Championship T-Shirt the track still has a few and will have them available for sale. The can be picked up at the registration office during practice and reces. These shirts are really great! So come on down & get ya one!

As a memorial for recent the loss of rider "Captain" Matt Juneau, Duke City BMX had a moment of silence with a special gate dropping as the 505 Racing Team stood in the gate. Riders at Duke City BMX that competed today wore decals in memory of Matt.

Matt's team 505 Racing entered for the BMX team points competition as Team "Captain" Matt Juneau in his honor. By the end of the day Team "Captain" Matt Juneau had earned the 1st place BMX Team trophy for this years NM State Championship which was given to Matt's Family.

08 NM State ABA BMX Championship This Weekend!

We are proud to announce that Duke City BMX will host the 2008 NM State ABA BMX Championship the 3 day event starts Friday the 19th.

State Championship Weekend Sept 19-21
Riders that have participated in at least 2 of the qualifying state championship series races will be eligible to compete for a state title. Riders that have not participated in the previous qualifying races can still compete! (but will not earn a state title for finishing in the main event) If you have any questions just stop by the registration office and we will be happy to help.

This event had a great turn out last year and this year should be even bigger & better! This is the 2nd largest annual event at Duke City BMX do not miss it!

Saturday after the races join us for a track celebration! Duke City BMX will have inflatable activity centers onsite for the kids to play on!
Come enjoy some State Championship Cake & Ice Cream after the races let the kids jump around.

Swap Meet!We will be having a Bike Swap Meet too! Bring those bikes & parts that are taking up space in the garage and after the races will will have an area sectioned off for an after race Bike Swap Meet! No fees for buyers or sellers so bring your stuff & set up after the Saturday races!

PRO-AM Race on Sunday!!! Cash Prize for the winner!

We will have special 2008 State Championship Shirts for sale at this event 20.00 for regular sizes, larger sizes slightly more.

Track Prep: Angelo Valencia has volunteered to head up the track prep for the State Championship Weekend. Angelo has asked that any parents and or riders that would like to assist show up this Tues at 5pm to help get the track in order. Angelo is also seeking help on this Thurs at 5pm. If you have the time come on out & lend a hand so we can make sure the track is super smooth for this weekend! Thank you in advance for all your support!

The week following the State Championship the track will be open, the track rebuild project has been postponed till further notice. RIDE HARD!

Duke City BMX to host PRO-AM Race

During the State Championship Duke City BMX will host a Special PRO-AM race!

A PRO-AM race is a special no points race where amature riders can compete against any pro. This particular race will have a cash prize! Only 10.00 to enter for the PRO-AM.

To start things off Steve Hernandez of Hernandez Concrete Pumping in Albuquerque has pleged 50.00 towards the PRO-AM Prize Purse! Steve has challenged any individual or company to match or beat his pledge for this Pro Am Prize Purse. Who knows how large this winners pot will get!Winner takes all!

PRO-AM races are always fun to watch, if you have never seen one get ready for some fast racing action!

If you wish to pledge and award amount for the PRO-AM see Liz Fernandez at the track.

Bike Swap & After Race Party this Saturday

This Saturday after the races around 2pm or so Duke City BMX will be having a Celebration & Bike Swap.

Inflatible activity centers, cake, ice cream & a Bike Swap!

Bring some comfortable clothes for the kids so they can jump around & play after the races.

Trying to clear out some of that BMX racing gear or parts, looking to sell an old bike? Now is your chance at the BIKE SWAP! Duke City will have an area sectioned off after the races for you to set up shop & sell or trade your parts & gear. No fees to seller or buyers at the swap. So bring your BMX racing stuff & come on down to the track!

Loss of a Rider "Captain" Matt Juneau

It has been confirmed that our friend & BMX Rider Matt did not survive the aircraft mishap he was involved in this week. Matt Raced 51-55 Men's Cruiser for 505 Racing. Matt was a very calm & confident person always willing to offer a word of encouragement and wisdom to riders & the team.

Matt will be missed by all who's lives he had touched. Our prayers go out to his family & friends.

Matt you will be truly missed but not forgotten.

New Practice Night Procedure at Duke City BMX

Riders & Parents,
We are very excited about our new increased membership & rider count! Duke City BMX is busy as ever! This makes for great racing competition and fun!

Due to the recent increase we are implementing membership verification at the gate on Wednesday practices.Please bring your ABA Membership Card or membership receipt, as we will now be verifying at the gate each Wednesday.

All new and first time riders that would like to try the great sport of BMX are still welcome as usual just head right on up to the registration booth the get signed up!

In the event you are already a member and happen to forget your id card or receipt please check in at the sign up window for verification.

Once again we are glad to see so many riders at the track keep them comming we have room for many more! See you there!
