WELCOME NEW RIDERS!
This evening at Wednesday night practice 19 new members registered at the track. Last Wednesday 30 new members signed up! This is fabulous and really makes for some great racing!
Since we have so many new members and families now is a good time to review some basics about participating at Duke City BMX.
Your bike:
If you are bringing a non BMX race bike from home please make sure the following safety rules are followed. Riding & racing on a Professional BMX track is quite different than riding on a trail or in your neighborhood the following steps will help insure you and the other riders remain safe.
Things to remove before riding on the track: kick stand, Axel pegs, chaingaurds, reflectors and any accessory that may impale a rider or riders during a crash. These items include beverage holders, bells, bike locks and mirrors. Front brakes are also to be removed as they are not allowed by American Bicycle Association.
If you would like assistance evaluating the safety of your bike our team of track operators will be performing bike inspections for no charge.
You:
All riders must wear a helmet that fits, long sleeve shirt and pants or Elbow Pads and Knee Shin pads. Helmets must be strapped while on the track.
Your conduct:
Duke City BMX is located at the Albuquerque Veloport complex, the facility is on City property and falls under the Parks & Recreation standards, no pets, no smoking and no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the complex or in the parking lot. Duke City BMX has additional conduct rules posted at the signup window as well, please make yourself familiar with them.
We are glad you have joined our BMX racing family and hope you enjoy racing as much as we do!
If you have any questions about Duke City BMX rules or the American Bicycle Association Rules please feel free to ask for assistance at the registration window or view the 2009 ABA rules online at: RULE BOOK
