
Some time ago Duke City BMX was approached by a motion picture industry representatives as a possible location in filming of GAMER the movie. Recently the promotional trailer for the completed motion picture has now been released. In this 2:33 second trailer Duke City BMX is seen more than just a few times. GAMER the movie features many additional Albuquerque locations as well. Looks like the BMX track Albuquerque loves is going to to the big screen in Hollywood!

Liz Fernandez wins Corporate Heroes Award


Congratulations to Track Director Liz Fernandez as a recipient of the New Mexico Business Weekly Corporate Heroes Award for outstanding community service.
As you all know Duke City BMX is managed and operated 100% by volunteers. At the helm of the operation is Liz Fernandez who donates her time and experience in operating Duke City BMX with a team of 20 volunteers year around. Liz spends over 2000 hours per year of her own time making sure the track operation is functioning as it should. This year Liz was nominated as a New Mexico Business Weekly Corporate Heroes Honoree recognized as community service leader among her peers and the Albuquerque business community.
Nominated by the community at large, 18 companies/organizations and 12 individuals were honorees of the second annual New Mexico Business Weekly Corporate Heroes awards. Liz Fernandez, one of the 30 recipients, was recognized for her philanthropic involvement in the community.

2009 ABA BMX Spring National Concludes
For many this was the first time to Albuquerque and Duke City BMX. Many positive comments about the track, facility, organized operation, the overall friendliness of the Duke City BMX Volunteers and Albuquerque in General were received.
Local media representatives from The Rio Rancho Observer, KRQE News 13 and Channel 4 KOB Eyewitness News we on hand covering the event. The Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau provided a live Traditional Mariachi group complete with a heart stopping Trumpet solo for the National Anthem to kick off the opening ceremony.
The American Bicycle Association crew arrived nearly 2 weeks prior to make sure the track & dirt were correct for the race. John David the COO of the ABA announced at today's race that Duke City BMX may possibly be the finest BMX Racing track in the world.
Many thanks to all the vendors, volunteers, Albuquerque Police Officers, ABA and BMX Racers who made the 2009 Spring National the best ever!
