Furthermore, the goal of this program is to allow our best young U.S. riders an opportunity to progress to the highest level of international BMX competition and to familiarize themselves with the bigger, faster, and more demanding style of BMX racing, which is contested at the UCI Supercross World Cup level and the Olympic Games. All Junior Development camps will take place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center while utilizing the Olympic replica BMX track, the series will facilitate competition starting at the local level and culminating at the National level. USA Cycling will run four Junior Development Camps each year, so the series will determine four times per year who will be invited.

Twelve (12) male riders will be selected to attend each USA Cycling Junior Development camp. These riders will be determined by participation in the USA Cycling Junior Development Series. The top 8 male racers in the series will receive an automatic invite to the camp, There are also four camp slots that will be chosen at the sole discretion of USA Cycling coaches and staff and may be male or female. The points will be totaled four times per year preceding each of the four USA Cycling Junior development camps

Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) race comes to Duke City BMX

Duke City BMX would like to announce that our track here in Albuquerque New Mexico is now in the international BMX Racing calendar!

Only a handful of select tracks are chosen each UCI season to host this international competition.
Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the sanctioning body that governs all Olympic cycling events world wide.

We are humbled and honored to have Duke City BMX added to this esteemed list of tracks. UCI events draw many competitors from all over the globe. At a typical UCI race it is extremely common to see international champions and Olympic BMX medalists compete.

This year during the ABA BMX Spring National Duke City BMX along with the American Bicycle Association will host New Mexico's first ever Union Cycliste Internationale BMX racing event.

Dukr City BMX Track Improvement Updates

Duke City BMX remains closed for construction. The good news is that the project has begun on the installation of the new ProGate! Last night the Board of Directors and the Volunteer Committee had a special meeting to discuss track improvements while the ProGate is being installed.

We are pleased that the City contractor has begun work on the installation of the new gate. Unfortunately the installation will not be finsihed til April 7th. With this long delay in mind we will take advantage of the time to perform some major work to the track.

We have hired a ABA track builder to come out to help us get the track in shape for the remainder of the season. We have some new races added to our track Calendar this year like the addtion of our first UCI race and our first Redline Cup!

Our first week of racing after the track reopens is the weekend of April 10th and 11th. This will be the Redline Cup Qualifier and the NM State Championship Qualifier Race #1. Both of these races are double points races!
Duke City BMX is proud ot have the Redline Cup come to our track for the first time. For more information regarding the 2010 Redline Cup check it all out at http://www.ababmx.com/.

Good luck to all those who plan to travel to Desoto TX to race in the Supernationals later this month.

Keep up your training and we will see you on the track soon!

Yesterday day 2 of the Winternationals in Phoenix the day started out with just a little rain. As the day progressed the rain increased to full on El Nino rainstorm & wind at Black Mountain BMX.

Riders wore raincoats, trash bags and anything else they could to stay dry! In the end an amazing day of old fashioned BMX MUD Racing was had. Very exciting to see head to head racing action in the thick mud and pouring rain!

We are sooooooooo lucky our track is covered!

The next Major ABA National race is the Super Nationals In Desoto TX a mixed weekend of ABA & UCI racing. Info on Metroplex BMX can be located in our links section or on the ABA BMX website.
